TIG welding course designed to learn the basic principles and procedures of steel frame construction using this type of joint. The objective is to provide a solid foundation of knowledge and skills upon which the student can later practice and perfect their TIG welding technique individually.
TIG welding is undoubtedly one of the favorite techniques of many road and mountain frame builders; it is highly efficient in terms of finish quality and labor time compared to other traditional types of welding. Learning to do so, however, requires a thorough understanding of the welding equipment and the appropriate parameters for use on steel pipes just a few millimeters thick, which can be irreparably damaged if the joint is not joined using proper technique. This type of welding also requires numerous hours of practice to master all the variables of the joining process.
Aware of the time required to practice, we are certain that the best way to advance in mastering this type of welding is to acquire a solid foundation of knowledge from which to properly develop and improve your technique. The first part of this course consists of a theoretical introduction to TIG welding (equipment, parameters, materials, and techniques). This will then move on to various welding exercises in which the student will be able to observe and, later, put into practice the techniques and procedures taught until achieving high-quality, durable joints.
• Welding equipment.
• TIG machine operating parameters
• Types of tungsten torches and tips. The welding arc.
• Pipe preparation
• Practical joint exercises
