Training: Our Courses and Modules

ETB courses and modules are adapted for all levels, designed to be taught according to an approach that combines theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired over 10 years of professional and pedagogical experience in the bicycle sector, as well as as in different universities and design schools. Our courses are grouped into three main areas.

Bicycle Design and Frame-Building I

Course aimed at all those people who want to deepen their knowledge about bicycles by designing and building their own frame and acquiring basic, solid and systematized information about which to continue learning in this area. It offers an overview of bicycle design and construction.

Bicycle Design and Frame-Building II

Course aimed at all those people looking for a more complete approach to the design and construction of bicycles. In this course, two tables are designed and built through which solid and systematized training is acquired on which to continue learning and improving skills in this area.

ON-LINE Course

In this theoretical course we offer an overview of the design and construction of the bicycle (custom or serial) as well as all the most relevant aspects of the process: relationship with clients, selection of materials and components, construction techniques, construction tools. workshop and design programs.

Oxide-Acetylenic Welding Course

Course of a practical nature aimed at the study of the joining processes between metals in which the filler material has a significant difference in fusion temperature with respect to the base material; capillary welding (fittings) and fillet brazing using brass and silver.

TIG welding

TIG welding course designed to learn the basic principles and procedures of constructing steel frames using this type of union. The objective is to offer a solid base of knowledge and skills on which the student can later practice and perfect their TIG welding technique on an individual basis.

Fork Manufacturing

This course is designed to be taken after our ‘Bicycle Design and Construction Course I’ or the ‘Oxy-Acetylene Welding Course’, although it can also be taken independently.

Practices in the Workshop under Supervision

This module is designed so that students who have already taken a subject with us can delve deeper into it, review and practice the material seen in a supervised manner.

Applied Biomechanics

This course offers an overview of the principles of biomechanics, paying special attention to their application when designing a frame.

Introduction Course

In this course we offer an overview of the design and construction of bicycles (custom or serial), as well as all the most relevant aspects of the process: customer relationship, selection of materials or components, construction techniques, tools or design , painting, etc…

Activities, Resources and Events

The Escuela Técnica de la Bicicleta (ETB) is also active centre for the enlargement and diffusion of bicycle-related knowledge , organising regularly monographic courses, open door visits and meetings for all past and present students to come and continue improving their knowledge and skills. In this section you will find news related to the ETB, information about forth-coming events and a series of on-line resources related to the bike design, frame-building and bike mechanics.

Full List of Courses

The Escuela Técnica de la Bicicleta offers a series of courses which provide the student with necessary knowledge and skills to advance in any of these areas in an efficient way both at a professional or enthusiast level. All the courses can be taken either individually or combined to create your own module of bicycle studies tailored to your specific interests. All courses are imparted in small groups using predominantly practical approach and adapting to the skills and requirements of each student.
